Chinese Search Portals & University Websites Fell Victim to Hack

According to the online security provider Websense, two separate Chinese search portals were reportedly brought to a state of compromise during the last week of December 2008, as reported by The Tech Herald on December 29, 2008.

The security company said that both search sites, namely Sohu.com and China.com, legitimately established, were abused to change their pages' original code to embed malicious code for launching attacks against their visitors. However, this hostile code, according to Websense, has been changing since the 4th week of December 2008, taking visitors to other exploit sites.

Moreover, while both search sites continue to be infected, security experts at Websense on December 29, 2008 detected another malicious code that two famous Chinese University websites...
