CheckFree Alerts its 5 Million Consumers About Security Breach

CheckFree, an E-Bill Payment Company, and its banking clients have notified 5 Million consumers of a security infringement on the company's site that occurred in early December 2008. In this attack, a hacker gang believed to be from Ukraine diverted visitors towards a malicious site and attempted to load malware on their computers.

According to Fiserv Inc., the parent company of CheckFree, the 5 Million customers alerted include all members of mycheckfree.com, the E-Bill Payment site, and those CheckFree customers who tried to pay bills via client bill clearing websites.

CheckFree also discloses that along with its bank clients, it is contacting those consumers who attempted to pay bank bills through their services.ยป SPAMfighter News - 17-01-2009
