CheckFree Alerts its 5 Million Consumers About Security BreachCheckFree, an E-Bill Payment Company, and its banking clients have notified 5 Million consumers of a security infringement on the company's site that occurred in early December 2008. In this attack, a hacker gang believed to be from Ukraine diverted visitors towards a malicious site and attempted to load malware on their computers. According to Fiserv Inc., the parent company of CheckFree, the 5 Million customers alerted include all members of mycheckfree.com, the E-Bill Payment site, and those CheckFree customers who tried to pay bills via client bill clearing websites.
