USB Storage Devices to Increasingly Drive Malware AttacksSecurity software vendors are warning users to be wary of an increasing number of computer attacks launched by using USB keys and other memory devices containing malware. Hackers can easily connect these devices with picture frames, cameras and other common electronics, which, in turn, help them to infect computers, said security companies McAfee and F-Secure. Citing one instance of January 2009, F-Secure said that online fraudsters are using the autorun.inf files to distribute a worm called Downadup through the flash memory sticks. Another instance that McAfee reported shows how Sony spread malicious software by placing an additional security layer in its Micro Vault USB system.
