Yanceyville Women’s Email Account Hacked by Email Scammer

A female resident of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Shirley Deal, is the latest victim of Internet scammers. Her Hotmail account had been hacked by an email scammer who sent e-mails to all her contacts, posing as Shirley Deal.

The e-mail recipients were asked about their wellbeing. They were also informed that Shirley Deal was sorry for not letting them know about her visit to London for an important program.

The e-mail stated that Shirley was having some trouble in London as she had lost her wallet while going back to hotel. All her money and belongings were kept at the hotel.

Further, the e-mail stated that she required an immediate financial help of around $1,500 so that she could settle her hotel bills and come back home. In the email, Shirley Deal also promised that as soon as she came back home, she would pay back the money.

As per Shirley Deal, she got to know about the email only when one of her colleague called her up and asked about her London tour. Now, Deal is planning to contact the Sherrif's Office to do the needful.

Security experts have stated that the above mentioned e-mail is a Nigerian 419 scam, or the Advance free fraud. Advance fee fraud scammers are a global threat, which operate from all the continents. These scammers includes both one-man-band scamming around few thousand dollars per year, and highly organized groups collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars per month by hacking personal accounts of users.

According to the security experts, it is a disturbing fact that Nigerian 419 Scam is currently one of the biggest scam worldwide in terms of monetary losses.

The security experts have advised the users that their passwords should be unusual otherwise it would be easier for the scammers to hack their accounts. Preferably, the passwords should contain both letters and numbers, which makes a good combination, and difficult to hack. People, who want to give monetary help to a friend or colleague, should call the asking party first and ensure the truth.
