Nigerian scam mails circulating in various states of US

Security officials cautioned that different US states and their residents are being hit by the notorious Nigerian scam mail.

They indicated at two scam mails one coming from Powell (Ohio) and the other from Kalamazoo County (Michigan) to prove their verdict.

The scam mail from Powell (Ohio) seems to have come from an alleged hitman who has been hired to murder the reader.

The mail reads "I took pity on you (reader). That is why I have made up my mind to help you if you are willing to help yourself." The sender asks for $10,000 to cancel the contract.

Powell Police Chief Gary Vest is one among many who got the mail.

Vest stated that there is no evidence of anyone following through on the threats; he said he is sure that somebody might have been cheated out of fear, as per the news by 10tv.com on October 12, 2010.

He added that this bothered him as the senior citizens or some other people are not familiar to such kinds of scam.

Another scam mail circulating in Kalamazoo County (Michigan) reads: "Hope you get this on time, sorry I didn't inform you about my trip to the United Kingdom, to visit my ill Cousin, and she is diagnosed with a critical uterine fibroid. A surgery needs to be carried out. Unfortunately I'm having some difficulties here, I was mugged in a Taxi on my way to the hospital and they made away with all my money and other valuable things. I'm facing a hard time here, I need to help her and also get back home. Please I need a loan of $2450 or whatever you can afford".

Detective Sgt. Jeff Christensen, Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office's Financial Crimes Unit stated that usually they hack an account, if they can, and take all the contacts out of it, as per the news by mlive.com on October 11, 2010.

Lastly, anyone concerned about the attack by any of these mails should immediately contact their local police for advice.
