Chinese Govt. Helped Directing Google Attacks

As per the recently issued US diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks, hacking attacks that caused Google to provisionally defer services on the Mainland China came on the Government orders.

According to the private and confidential US government documents, the attacks on Google's servers were commanded by a member of the Chinese Politburo, a Chinese Communist Party.

As per an unidentified Chinese source, the attacks were executed by a group of the government officials, private firms, and other hired individuals, as reported by V3 on November 29, 2010.

As per the same source, all the above mentioned attacks are known as 'Operation Aurora'. This operation was targeted against no less than 30 big companies-including Google and Adobe-which exploited zero-day vulnerability in the Internet Explorer. The exploit facilitated malware to install onto netizens' systems that could gain access over the machine to compromise corporate intellectual property.

The unidentified source alleges that the Chinese government had been frequently compromising into the systems of the US government and its Western associates, along with the Dalai Lama and several American businesses, since 2002.

Interestingly, security experts have been long suspecting China as a main source of the Google attacks.

As a matter of fact, the attacks were so critical that Google opted to remove from the China and the US State Department supported Google's decision.

However, now the US government is strongly criticizing WikiLeaks for publicly exposing sensitive documents.

The White House stated highlighted that these cables can hack personal discussions with the foreign governments and other leaders, and when the matter of private discussions is printed on the front pages of newspapers around the globe, it can intensely affect not only the U.S. foreign policies, but those of their associates and friends across the globe," as reported by pcmag on November 29, 2010.

The White house further highlighted that, these kind of revelations enhance the risk level of their diplomats, intelligence professionals, and people across the globe who visit the United States for backing in encouraging democracy and the concepts of open government. Further, White House stated that, President Obama promotes accountable and open government across the globe, but this irresponsible and unsafe action (pointing towards WikiLeaks) runs counteract to that aim.
