US Spam Volumes Start Reviving During January 2011The total spam volumes in United States started rising during January 2011, placing the country once again among the twenty most widespread sources of spam ever-since an absence of 2-months (November-December 2010), reveals Kaspersky Labs the Russian security company. Reportedly, during January 2011, USA occupied the last position on No.14, accounting for 2.07% of all junk e-mails worldwide. States Kaspersky, during September 2010, USA started trailing behind Brazil, Russia and India and during October 2010, its spam volumes dropped still more, taking the country down to position No.18. Nevertheless, the most recent spam volume originating out of USA continues to be extremely low in comparison with the 15.5% score it had during August 2010, Kaspersky highlights. The security company observes that Italy, India and Russia were still on the Top Twenty List, while their rates of share in global e-mail junk kept on being the same since December 2011. India accounted for 9.01% of all spam mails, depicting a 0.88% fall, while Russia stood on No.2 once again, but accounted for a 0.3% decline since December 2010. Meanwhile, Italy was source to 5.07% of all junk e-mails, accounting for a 0.27% rise from December 2010. Moreover, similar to the situation during December 2010, most e-mails having malevolent files attached were found to originate from Russia, India and Vietnam. United Kingdom and USA too climbed to higher rankings possibly due to the initiatives for reviving botnets following the relaxation by law enforcement on the spam sector. In Ukraine there was a 4% detection of malware from the total malicious programs during December 2010, but during January 2011, the country slid down and out of the list of the top spam-producing countries. Stated Maria Namestnikova, an expert with Kaspersky Labs, spammers, during December 2010-January 2011, slowly revived from the anti-botnet and anti-spam campaigns that previously affected them so significantly, adding that incase the world remained unaffected with any fresh incidences soon, the total amount of spam within the entire e-mail traffic could be the same as of summer 2010 by the time it was spring.
