Nigerians Threatened: Cyber Scams Purported From Gadhafi’s Wife

In the guise of Safia Gadhafi, wife of Libyan ruler, Muammar Gadhafi, cyber crooks are trying to cheat novice Nigerian netizens, claimed security experts in the website of msnbc on April 19, 2011.

The scammed email poses to be an emotional threat to the innocent citizens by claiming that the victimized is the spouse of Gadhafi and had been the victim to his intolerant brutes since their marriage. Safia Gadhafi even approves the citizens to be a part of the mass Libiyan protest against him and claims to suppress herself from going public for the reason of self security.

Safia claims to chalk out a plan of moving out from the trap of this dismal relationship as she could successfully rob $25.7M USD from the safe of her husband.

The recipient of this mail is further fascinated towards receiving 40% share of this stolen chunk on the condition that the recipient would use his name to be a depositor of the fund. On agreeing to do the same, the recipient is urged to send back a response mail at safia_farkash@rocketmail.com.

Security experts claimed the content of the mail to be a bogus and a total fake, which sounded similar to the typical Nigerian 419 scam.

These type of fake mail senders are inspired by similar spiteful issues as discussed above and seek the help of ignorant recipients taking the advantage of unstable political climate, Libya in this case and rob the recipient.

The technique applied in this case is to initiate a conversation with the recipient and offer him/her a percentage of the fund in return of their assistance. This percentage itself is a big temptation that the scammers utilize towards trapping potential victims.

With the recipient falling prey to accept this entice, requests for fulfilling various types of fees are charged from the recipient and claimed as necessary for further processing of the planned scheme though in actuality, no such funds exists.

However, with a little thoughtfulness from the perspective of citizens will make things crystal clear. They should realize as to why a topmost personality like Safia Gadhafi would contact them and seek their assistance.
