Study Reveals Fresh Malware Breed can Disable Anti-virus Defenses

According to security scientists, fresh malware items exist that are capable of rendering PCs as also crucial infrastructures devoid of defenses against cyber-assaults from foreign governments alternatively online-criminals, published ScienceNetwork dated December 10, 2011.

At the Edith Cowan University (Australia), senior lecturer Murray Brand for computer-science states that computers overall may fast fall short of the processing capability required for scanning them in order to find and eliminate malware. NDTV gadgets reported this, December 12, 2011.

And consequent of the stated shortfall, target computers can be inundated with plentiful malware; the malicious programs concealed within installed software, forcing the systems to become de-linked from the Internet; alternatively the systems be used as bait for actual assault originating from another source.

Brand also states that AV (anti-virus) programs are by now striving towards matching the pace of increasing numbers of malicious programs that are an estimated 75m at close of 2011.

According to him, by using a virus, cyber-criminals would first build a network of bot-infected PCs followed with loading one honeypot program for drawing and seizing more malicious programs online.

Thereafter, the seized malicious programs would get transmitted back to the cyber-criminal who would enhance on their defenses against AVs using anti-analysis programs as well as customize them for future assault prior to disseminating them amidst each of the bots. That's because incase the enhanced, customized malicious program is considerably dissimilar from any familiar malicious program then possibly an anti-virus mayn't detect it.

Furthermore according to Brand, malware-identification is associated with an analyst who has previously studied the malware's nature as also pulled out a related signature.

Presently, there's a variety of sophisticated, tailored malicious programs, which anti-virus applications find enormously hard to detect, as well as those capable of being uploaded onto a target computer, triggered off from many attack points.

Also Brand states that malware-disseminating bot-networks' majority components exist and as Internet-crime is very profitable, such model botnets are likely to be operational soon.

On the other side, tailored malware, which indeed has coordinated purpose can be employed for compromising crucial network operations alternatively infrastructures via an extremely clandestine way, he adds.
