Increase in the Number of Rejection of Service Attack

Among 55 DDoS tools and services on the market propose hackctivist, increasingly driven by ideological or political goals, a wide range of choices, arbor security researcher informed, according to the news published in InformationWeek security on February 9, 2012.

According to Jose Nazario researcher at arbor network "the botnet beside the attacks have been active in many DDos attacks in recent weeks, among which are in commercial properties whereas others are new sites, "according to the news published in CSO dated February 15, 2012.

Actually, the Nazario pressured especially on various Russian websites are politically provoked in his finding.

The finding is focused on botnet tracking logs from Project Blade runner, in which nazario and an intern manufactured a mock bot they coded using Python .As per the logs, attacks are politically motivated on various sites.

Arbor network providing mitigation for DDoS to the world's largest internet service providers first detected DirtJumper , a piece of malware , in july last year ( 2011). It had been utilize to start DDoS attacks on two Russian gaming websites.

Security researcher and journalist Brian krebs reported on Dirtjumper last year (2011) defining it as " a advertisement crimeware kit sold for few hundred bucks on the hacker underground". Krebs own site krebsonSecurity.com was hit by a DirtJumper attack in November 2011.

According to the discovery, the mean attack bandwidth registered in fourth quarter of 2011 was 5.2Gbps, 148% more than in third quarter. The year over year increase for attack bandwidth in 2011 was 136%.

This trend is also reflected in a new report from arbor network which surveyed 114 representatives of different market segments about their experience with DDoS attacks in 2011. Over 40% of respondents said they experienced attacks that exceeded 1 Gbps in bandwidth last year, while 13% said they were the aim of at least one attack that crosses 10Gbps.

Also, the idyllic byways of the next generation IPv6 internet now suffer problem earlier was restricted to the mainstream IPv6 internet: distributed denial-of-service attacks.

Arbor networks said that this is a significant milestone in the arms race between attackers and defenders. We supposed that the scope and prevalence of IPv6 DDoS attacks will slowly increase with time as IPv6 is more widely organize.
