Computer Virus Awarded as Winner on Oscar Nights

Alvin Estevez, Cofounder, President, and Managing Director of the Enigma Software Group alerted users from the alarming risks rising from the spread of computer viruses, while speaking to a guest post on Forbes.com, according to the news published in T3 on February 24, 2012. He further anticipated computer infections to have suddenly expanded in and around the USA during the Oscars and rise by a whopping 30%, thus creating a history in the world of malware till now.

Cyber criminals utilize the vast expansion in search engine optimization processes, particularly for events like this, thus they delve too much into the intricacy of matters by spamming out -e-mails and links carrying images and news of actors, actresses, and nominated films. As such, users intriguing the net are subsequently infected by clinking on the links.

Fake Oscar's entertainment links are created by the cyber criminals to spread user's computers with a lot of virus and simply blackmail them to free themselves from virus attack on account of a large ransom around the world.

Last year (2011), traffic increased to 34%, which is double as much rise in 2010 to 15%, against the normal level. The survey was conducted during and immediately after the academy awards show and the number of infection thereafter during the 72 hours. Thus, Oscar nights was considered as the second in-demand night for malware traffic during both 2011 and 2010.

Faux links are created and set up by spammers and will be used by people coming to talk about and be familiar with the winners and losers. Moreover, people with the interest of finding the photos of their favorite celebrities on red carpet or even those who are trying to go through the dress code or tuxedo of their favorites. From the history of the attacks, the fake guys seem to know the views of the link expected in the surge. As such the spammers are trying to create clickable links that are already infected and ready to trap unwary victims. The step after it lies in the way of a simple process, where a person could click where they are not expected to and they get an infection.

However, Sunday's massive infection will be more than the expected nuisance: they can turn out to be quiet expensive also. Infection known as scareware, which are manufactured to tempt computer users and convince them into believing that they are being infected with malware and hence, required to pay an amount for its removal - only to be "infected" might be once more, perhaps after a few weeks, with a different demand for payment.
