Documents Related to Popular Spyware “FinFisher” Leaked

Softpedia.com reported on 6th August, 2014 stating that a set of files have been posted online containing the features and capabilities of "FinFisher" spyware suite (also known as FinSpy) which is a package sold to governments and law enforcement agencies by Gamma Group, a German company.

The documentation was published through a Twitter account which purports to be from PR (Public relations) department of the company but the account is not affiliated with Gamma Group and is operated by somebody who uses the handle Phineas Fisher.

The files contained the latest release notes for FinSpyPC and FinSpyMobile 4.51 dated 14th April, 2014.

Various communication channels can be monitored (short text messages, calls, multimedia messages) for the mobile version of the spyware which allows access to stored data (address book) and also allows making silent calls to listen microphone remotely.

Another document revealed that FinFisher for PC bypasses the detection of nearly 40 regularly tested antivirus systems.
