Intel Discovers Top Ten Characters which can Compromise Online Security

Ibtimes.com reported on 30th June, 2015 stating that security firm Intel Security released a new study showing top ten comic characters that when searched online, lead careless Internauts to websites laced with computer viruses, malware and other "inappropriate content" which can compromise computers.

Intel Security said that Aquaman poses the biggest threat online for the second time in three years as the company released its "Most Toxic Superhero" list of 2015. Superman topped the list last year and Aquaman stood first in 2013.

Superman, who topped the list last year, did not even make the to the top 10 list in 2015 highlighting that the Man of Steel (referring to Superman) does not always get things according to his way.

Intel Security says that users, who search information online on Aquaman, have a 20% risk of landing on a website which has been found to contain online threats like adware, spyware, spam, phishing, viruses or other malware.

It (Intel Security) says that the buzz surrounding Jason Momoa's future performance as Aquaman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (actual title) and a single movie in 2018 has given crooks enough opportunity to target fans who just want to know more about the King of Atlantis.

The balance top five includes Iron Fist (19.69%), Wolverine (19.58%), Wonder Woman (19.38%) and Doctor Strange (19.17%). It is not astonishing that these superheroes made it to the list as all of them would be featuring in future movies and TV shows which have received much buzz in this year.

Daredevil, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk (tied for 7th place), Green Lantern, Catwoman and Batman complete the list.

To protect their own selves, Intel Security recommends users to be careful about searches which turn up a link to complimentary content or offers that sound too good to be true.

Several doubtful sites feature wrong spellings or other indications that the URL may guide Internauts to a fake website or contain malware which will malign your machine and hence Intel Security advises customers to ensure that they have a foolproof updated security solution with a safe search tool to recognize fake sites in search engine results.
