Unknown Hackers Hack ‘Hacking Team’ Itself

Hacking Team, which sells spyware/surveillance programs across the globe to different government agencies, recently got hacked itself resulting in leakage of corporate data of 400 gigabytes-or-more with the help of one torrent file, published softpedia.com dated July 6, 2015.

As more injury to Hacking Team, unknown cyber-criminals took over control of the Twitter account of the company and then 'tweeted' filched electronic mails' screenshots through that account.

Of numerous software applications that worldwide governments utilize for surveillance, Hacking Team supplies several, one being the malware surveillance program DaVinci. Security experts ordinarily consider this program as 'legitimate malware' therefore explains chiefly why 'Reporters without Border' an activist group regard it the Internet's enemy.

In an advisory related to DaVinci, 'Reporters Without Borders' explain how the DaVinci surveillance software manages towards cracking encryption remotely so law-enforcement bodies can read encoded e-mails and files, intercept chat communication or monitor Skype as well as other VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) communication.

Furthermore, DaVinci can detect the relationships and locations of the hacked entities while also make a computer's cameras/microphones active.

It was during 2013 that DaVinci's notoriety increased after Kaspersky the security firm posted how 'Evidence Hackers,' understandably state-sponsored had been utilizing the software for cyber espionage against political activists based at Middle East.

Christian Pozzi an engineer with Hacking Team asserts, the exposure of secret content included one PC-virus, an argument that security researchers relate like an attempt to lessen destruction. Theregister.co.uk reported this, July 6, 2015.

But Twitter's Ex-Operations and Security Worker John Adams instead states that the torrent consists of each-and-every virus that's sold and which's to be patched. Theregister.co.uk reported this.

Pozzi dismissed that his team sold malware while described the wares it created were tailored software solutions. Soon other cyber crooks also captured his account.

Incidentally, there are 40-or-more employees at Hacking Team which trades commercial hacking programs that many law enforcement agencies paid for from countries like the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Morocco, among others.
