New Trojan Triada for Android Devices

Kaspersky Lab the security company has found a Trojan designed for attacking Android devices. This Trojan dubbed Triada is similarly functional and complex like Windows-based malicious programs. It's treacherous, persistent, modular, as well as a creation of professional criminals.

Triada is capable of overwriting outbound SMS messages that applications not of the default kind send. When an end-user conducts in-app purchases during Android games through the means of SMS, scammers likely overwrite the outbound message that makes the money come to them rather than go to the game operators, thus reaping illegitimate earnings during the process.

Thus, in an alert by Kaspersky, users are cautioned about Triada being creation of highly professional cyber-criminals who well understand mobile platforms which the Trojan may target. Moreover, people using Android 4.4.4 as also the mobile operating system's previous versions require being particularly aware since it's almost impossible to uninstall Triada.

The company explains that the Trojan has a characteristic feature that of its utilization of Zygote one of Android's core processes which consists of frameworks and system libraries that all applications loaded onto an Android mobile, use. Conversely, it is one demon which focuses on presenting Android applications, observes Kaspersky. Theinquirer.com posted this March 3, 2016.

According to news from Kaspersky, the latest Triada incidences show that the malware's authors employed their ware for clandestinely dispatching SMS messages addressing high-profile contacts with the objective to defraud end-users while earn the Trojan's controllers large profits.

And though Triada's capability of contaminating Zygote can get exploited for various purposes, its future abilities would solely be restricted to the quantitative value of the devices the Trojan's controllers would manage to contaminate.

According to Kaspersky, with the latest security updates incorporated into Android's operating system ever from the start of version 4.4.4, the stepping-stone Trojans that have emerged such as Gopro, Ztorg and Leech prove as less effective towards finding a place on Android mobiles followed with taking down Triada.

The security company warns that it's almost unfeasible for uninstalling the malware off Android devices. Therefore, those users who may've become infected must either manually erase the malevolent apps or "root" their mobiles.
