Hackers of Turkey Attack Websites of Armenian Government


Turkish hacker group has launched a cyber-attack interrupting operations of many websites of Armenian government, including energy, defense and agriculture ministries along with other state agencies, causing non-operational for long.

Hacker group namely 'Aslan Neferler Tim' (closely translated to Lion Privates Team) claimed the accountability for the social media accounts attack.

Nagorno-Karabakh, a separated region of Azerbaijan with a primarily Armenian population, experienced more violence on 2nd April. A ceasefire happened on Tuesday between Azerbaijan and forces of Nagorno-Karabakh. Sputniknews.com posted on 6th April, 2016, quoting Defense Ministry as saying on earlier Wednesday "the Armenian forces had violated the ceasefire 115 times during past 24 hours."

The websites are targeted within the short-term regeneration of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that has dominated the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia for two decades. The Daily Sabah reported quoting the hacker group as claiming "we will increase cyber-attacks". The same Turkish hacker group had before claimed the responsibility for attacking websites of Armenian Central Bank and the main webpage of Anonymous, a well-known hacker group.

Websites of Government agencies of Belgian and Geert Wilders personal page, the right-wing Dutch, have also apparently been victim of same group.

Sabah newspapers revealed that the Aslan Neferler Tim group of hackers committed cyberattacks, and were focused on Armenia's ministries of energy, agriculture and defense official websites. It was added that hackers have promised to continue its attacks on websites of Armenian government.

The Turkish hacker group had before claimed the accountability of cyberattacks on government agencies of Belgian, far-right Dutch politician Greet Wilders, the Armenian Central Bank, and the Anonymous hacker group main website.

Turkish malefactor exploits news was followed by the cyber scandal which appeared on Monday, when a database apparently having personal information of almost 50 million Turkish citizens and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of the country, was online posted by the hacking group. The leak seems to be motivated politically.

Hacking activists also comprising of Anonymous group, attacked Turkey many times. Turkey experienced many cyber-attacks during December 2015, apparently disrupting credit card transactions.
