Second in Line under Opicarus Campaign has been Bank of Cyprus

A massive distributed denial of service attack inundating the Central Bank of Cyprus website is from the Anonymous hackers' group that has revived its Operation #OpIcarus in efforts to draw the world's attention towards people considered elite who are apparently controlling the global sphere through directions issued to the world financial system.

Anonymous attacked Bank of Greece website first that by now has recovered, however only after high profile news publications of the world flashed as headlines the gigantic denial of service assault vis-à-vis the website.

The hactivist group disrupted Central Bank of Cyprus' official website bringing it down within its OpIcarus campaign, one Internet operation launched for striking global financial and banking institutions. OpIcarus had its debut during January 2016 after which it was re-launched just two months later during March 2016. Believing that financial giants and banks have definite role in corruption, the hacktivists of late established their protest via advancing their war against these institutions.

Earlier in the morning, the group carried out the distributed denial of service assault that forced the Cyprus bank's online site namely www.centralbank.gov.cy for remaining offline. It's not clear what length of time the website was inaccessible; nonetheless, the attackers posted online one screenshot displaying that it remained down spanning 35-mins. Hackread.com posted this online dated May 4, 2016.

The Central Bank of Cyprus website has been the second among world central banks which got attacked since OpIcarus' revival. Previously, the Bank of Greece was hit when on May 3, 2016 its website confronted a sequence of distributed denial of service assaults leading it to go off the Web for many hours.

Now, one needs to wait and see whether any more assaults by the group shall occur against these high profile targets. When distributed denial of service assaults were last executed on major American financial institutions the hackers were spotted, and USA levied official charges. It was believed that the hackers had linkages with Government of Iran.

Currently, Cyprus' central bank website has been reinstated and is accessible. But, attackers are thinking of disrupting it yet again during the forthcoming days.
