Hacker using Darkode Forum Sentenced to a Year’s Imprisonment


USA's Department of Justice states that 29-yr-old Rory Stephen Guidry pleaded guilty within one deal finalized on 5th February 2016 to having taken part together with other computer attackers during 2014 within a hacking assault against one still-unnamed server situated inside Austin, Texas, thus posted techworm.com dated May 26, 2016.

Now Guidry who belongs to Opelousas, Louisiana is facing punishment of a year's jail because he allegedly committed hacking-related offences. Police had arrested him 12th July 2015 for his involvement in an operation of Darkode hacking website.

In the early days of 2015, the accused shifted from Liberty Hill situated in Texas and started living with his grandparents in their house within Opelousas, Louisiana after an investigation by the cops into the assault. In spite of that investigation he continued participating in illegal operations.

During his stay inside Opelousas, Guidry started serving malicious software to a large number of PCs and used the latter for creating a botnet for himself. The botnet contained approximately 5,000 contaminated PCs. Guidry then tried selling it on Darkode the illegal hacking forum.

Furthermore, he as well acknowledged that he partnered with one more PC-hacker (name not disclosed) for grabbing $80K worth of Bitcoin that they shared between themselves equally.

When the Federal Bureau of Investigation unfolded the Darkode site followed with raiding Guidry's residence, they further discovered 5,000 stolen payment card details.

Guidry used KMS as his online handle, while a Jabber ID that he utilized was k@exploit.im. Brian Krebs independent security researcher blogged in 2015 summer that after his many conversations with Guidry through Jabber, he thought that the individual was probably the least guilty among the total 12 suspects detained inside USA at the time of the Darkode incident.

According to Krebs, Guidry had prominent contribution towards exposing many members belonging to Lizard Squad a hackers' group that subsequently brought investigators again on Darkode.

He further disclosed how Guidry attempted at even disabling Darkode; however, officials intervened just in time and Guidry and accomplices failed to work out their plans.

Guidry's participation within the forum eventually made him suffer the loss of his freedom.
