Microsoft Spamming Office Ads to Android Notification Tray

Many Android users have Microsoft apps installed on their devices. Recently advertisements for Office apps have been emerging on Android phones. It appears, after plentiful problems surrounding Windows 10, it's 'Android Notification Center's turn to which Microsoft is sending overwhelming advertisements for Office easily describable as spam.

There's a very particular objective Android's notification center fulfils. As the name suggests there's nothing regarding advertising which the notification center does or should be doing. An owner of Android phone Thom Holwerda, this week, became worried because Microsoft Office serving certain functions for Android began sending him the overwhelming ads. The advertisements were for applications that Holwerda had already loaded on his phone. Thus arises some questions as to what reason is playing behind Microsoft's ignorance of Google's instructions, as well as its display of ads through the notification center.

Holwerda contends that apart from the truth that it isn't absolutely acceptable that ads get exhibited within the notification tray, it's also irrelevant finding Microsoft promoting products which Android owners already possess. Intrusive ads mustn't get allowed. Furthermore, since they are useless, the whole matter becomes even worse.

Apparently, Microsoft is wholly agreeable with the contention, since within one recent statement the company made for BetaNews, it in reality conceded with the problem while pledged towards resolving it. That implies it won't anymore display ads within Android's notification tray beginning from its next update. Softpedia.com posted this, May 28, 2016.

Moreover, following some exchange of electronic mails, one spokesperson for Microsoft stated that the organization was fully committed towards making sure they provided their customers the top quality of usability experience together with imbibing each-and-every applicable policy. He added the organization had acted towards disabling the notifications, with the stated update getting reproduced during the forthcoming days.

Meanwhile, the software giant is placing its reliance on competitor mobile companies, so Terry Myerson top person of Windows elaborated that the organization intended to continuously invest in applications as well as services obtainable through Android/iOS.

Also, since the exact date when the update as pledged would appear isn't known, users are recommended for checking Google Play on a routine basis.
