Feds Seek Imprisonment for Romanian Hacker ‘Guccifer’ up to 4.5 years

The computer hacker of Romania, who has breached private accounts of over 100 victims that includes a Hillary Clinton advisor, has requested the federal judge of sparing him from a long imprisonment before the sentencing hearing in Alexandria, Virginia, on Thursday morning.

Also recognized as Guccifer, Marcel Lazar Lehel sentenced to 7 years imprisonment on Thursday morning due to a hacking-spree of 14 months, which targeted an advisor of Mrs. Hillary Clinton, named Sidney Blumenthal, and also Colin Powell as well as Bush family members, among others.

Guccifer, age 44, was extradited to US from Romania early on this year. The federal grand jury indicted him on 9 counts in the year 2014. Hillary Clinton's private email server was successfully penetrated by him was famously claimed by Guccifer, although James Comey, FBI Director, threw water on this claim.

The public defender who is representing Marcel Lazar Lehel is requesting for 3 years, showing his cooperation with authorities of United States, and also the truth that he have to finish another 7-year sentence separately in Romania after fulfilling his US term.

Foxnews.com posted on August 31st, 2016, quoting an argument through a sentencing memorandum filed by defense attorney of Guccifer as "while there is no question that Mr. Lazar's hacking activity was serious and extensive, it was not particularly sophisticated, and his intent was never to steal money or otherwise profit from the information to which he gained access".

"Regardless of their stature, for almost all of his victims defendant illegally copied private information that he found in their accounts", stated the federal prosecutors in sentencing memorandum. The private information stoled by the defendant includes medical records, intimate photographs, personal email correspondence, financial documents, as well as personally recognizing information.

From January 2014, 44-year-old Lazar was in custody as he got arrested and charged by the Romanian authorities for hacking the local officials. Lazar was serving 7 year sentence - mostly in isolation as per American attorney of Lazar - when U.S. Justice Department opened the indictment after many months charging him with cybercrimes in the US.

Although the American victims of the hacker are not identified in the documents of public court, reports before his arrest indicate that Guccifer had links with the attacks.
