AAP Member Shows EVMs can be Hacked

The Aam Aadmi Party, in short AAP, in a challenge to EC (Election Commission) has demanded the latter give the party one authentic Electronic Voting Machine following questions arising from the main poll panel about a live demonstration the party gave inside the Delhi Assembly on how the EVM could be hacked.

When at a special session in the Assembly, Saurabh Bharadwaj, MLA from AAP placed a demo of hacking an EVM. But the EVM which the Member of the Legislative Assembly from Greater Kailash used in the demo wasn't a real one from the EC but a dummy.

An engineer in software prior to joining politics, 36-yr-old Bharadwaj declared that there wasn't any single machine across the globe which couldn't be rigged. Instantly, there were desk-thumping and applause within the Assembly that the AAP rules as majority.

He insisted his challenge stating that in Gujarat which was going to have election there wouldn't be even one seat that the BJP would win if the BJP-dominated Union government gave all the EVMs to AAP for merely a span of 3-hrs. Bharadwaj remarked that a motherboard could be changed in just 90 seconds. Ndtv.com posted this, May 9, 2017.

Many years back during 2010, authorities arrested a man named Hari Prasad over alleged theft of one EVM. A 3-member research group of which Prasad was one tried to show that it was possible to hack EVMs. When the group asked for an EVM from the central poll panel to do the test, it declined. Still, after the group was able to get one, Prasad was accused of theft.

Bharadwaj used that EVM prototype in the Assembly. First he showed giving 2 votes each to SP, Congress, BJP, BSP and AAP. After that he gave another vote from a non-existent voter -the hacker. Playing the role of that hacker, the AAP member typed in an undisclosed code that'd be the same as software inside the machine by default.

Another AAP member Sisodia too dared the Election Commission to let 3 workers from his party service the EVMs and stated that they could show all machines as wholly hacked.
