Pizza Hut Hack Affected Thousands of Customers – Announced by the Company

As announced by Pizza Hut on this Saturday, the theft of personal information of few of its customers is due to 28 hours long security breach at the company. As noticed, those who have placed an order on the company's website or mobile app between mornings October 1 till midday October 2nd might get their personal information exposed.

According to the notice issued by Pizza Hut, the 'temporary security intrusion' lasted for approximately 28 hours and resulted in theft of crucial customer details including billing ZIP codes, email addresses, delivery addresses, payment card details, names, account numbers, CVV numbers and expiration date.

Several people have complained about Pizza Hut on social media, stating that earlier information regarding the same must have helped them to prevent experiencing severe consequences from the fraud as posted on grubstrert.com on 16th October 2017.

Customers are furious as Pizza Hut reported about the hack just now, which occurred two weeks ago. As told by a call center executive to McClatchy the theft has affected almost 60,000 people across the United States.

According to Pizza Hut, the personal details of few customers who visited their mobile application or website during the 28 hours and subsequently placed an order have experienced the breach.

The intrusion was quickly identified by Pizza Hut and immediate actions were taken to halt it. Due to the security intrusion, the issue has affected a small portion of the customers and it has been estimated that less than 1% of the visits to the website during the course of the particular week were impacted.

Also, it has not been identified that were the hackers trying to fetch important details about the corporate data. IBTimes UK is consulting Pizza Hut for further clarity on the matter and will update about the same as soon as a response is availed.

As stated by one of the Pizza Hut representatives, they are deeply concerned about the security and privacy of their customers. To make up for the same, the chain is offering the impacted customers with one-year free credit monitoring. Also, they are looking into the matter to identify scams related to personal information because of this hack.
