Cyber Security Mission of DHS Overhauled with Passage of Bill in U.S House
The legislative body of U.S House recently approved an act which would organize afresh the cyber-security mission of Department of Homeland Security. Michael McCaul Chairman of Homeland Security Committee is the main person behind the legislation even as the House members' voice vote passed the bill on December 11, 2017.
The bill is set to organize afresh Homeland Security's National Protection and Programs Directorate, taking it on a higher plain within its own functional body. NPPD takes care of critical infrastructures and federal networks' security against threats both physical and cyber.
The cyber-security initiative of Homeland Security has drawn special attention in 2017 since the department's officials are playing the lead role in contacting state as well as local officers for safeguarding election infrastructure, in particular, voter database against cyber-attacks. Government officers from both Trump and Obama administrations lent support towards overhauling the NPPD that's presently Homeland Security main office's component.
