A study of local authority in the UK discovered, they were targeted by about 100 million cyber attacks in last five years.

The privacy campaign companies Big Brother Watch researched and detected the UK councils were subjected to digital attack to no less than 98 million from 2013 to 2017. This number covers malicious endeavor to disrupt, harm or gain unwanted access to PCs, network or gadget.

Although human blunder is the primary factor in making a digital attack successful, the researchdiscovered that out of four, threecouncils don't give required digital security training to employees and 16% don't give any sort of training for cyber security at all.

It stated that most of the cyber-attacks initiate through phishing emails that is designed to bluff staff into uncovering account credentials and other data. Big Brother Watch address human as the weakest link of cyber-protection chain and the threat could be reduced only if proper training arranged for council employees. 3/4th of local authorities didn't give any compulsory training on cyber-security and report says, 16% didn't give any training at all.

From Big Brother Watch, Jennifer Krueckeberg said councils are knocked down by more than 19 million cyber-attacks every year and stated she was stunned as most of the data breaches go unregistered.
