Most European Companies aren’t Prepared for Phishing Assaults

According to the Cofense Phishing Response Trends Report, 50%+ of European firms aren't prepared to tackle e-mail-based online assaults even though 78% of IT experts at least once been face-to-face with some security event related to a deceptive electronic mail that they dealt with.

In comparison, U.S firms at 66% weren't prepared for a similar event. As per comments by Product Management Director, Tim Helming of DomainTools, over half (57%) of companies in Europe feel they're not ready to handle a phishing assault. As per security teams, they're striving hard for tackling a large number of dubious electronic mails coming into their company mailboxes, states the report by Cofense a phishing defense company, previously called PhishMe.

Cofense's study followed a survey conducted across four hundred IT professionals from various industry sectors within Germany, France, UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The results that Cofense produces incite worry, however, no surprise. Phishing assaults, though a very well-known assault impairing cyber-security, continue to consistently dupe individuals and organizations. The fact matches with the news last week in America about one phishing scheme targeting universities that proved highly effective so much so that it did not require modifying ruses for four years. Informationsecuritybuzz.com posted this, March 28, 2018.

The report further finds that the greatest worry regarding cyber-security is e-mail-based threats as also phishing when 41% of those surveyed said their biggest test to stop phishing was ineffective integration of security systems.

United Kingdom recently reported -the worst dubious e-mails every week all over Europe accounted for 500+ as known from 23% of respondents in the country after which the Netherlands rated at 22%, France at 20%, Germany -18% and Belgium -16%.

Since e-mail-based threats and phishing proved the top security worry across Europe, the report indicated criticality of businesses to imbibe certain effective strategy for fighting the attack medium that's wholly integral to extensive security solutions.

Technologies alone, explains Belani, time and on proved that their extent of protecting enterprises is limited to that. Rather they require developing such a phishing defense which humans will drive and which will use human instinct to detect while technology for heightening response.
