The Difference is, Vevo’s Channel on YouTube was Hacked not Youtube
A team of attacker hacked the video "Despacito" on 9th April, Monday and vandalize the cover image of the clip with an image of a masked individual aiming gun, which cause temporary withdrawal of the popular video. As per BBC News, the attackers, who proceed by Kuroi'sh and Prosox, had also cut the clips by a dozen or more different artist, incorporating Selena Gomez, Drake, Shakira and Taylor Swift
Early morning people started seeing that world some most well-known artists' music videos - incorporating "Despacito" of Luis Fonsi, YouTube's frequent-watched video on Vevo were withdrawn. The videos were changed by the hackers with a message from them and were obtained offline while investigated by Vevo.
After a short period, a representative for Vevo affirmed the attack in an announcement to Billboard. "Vevo can affirm that various videos in its list were liable to a security violation today, which is under control now," read the announcement. "We are attempting to re-establish all videos influenced and our list to be re-established back in order. We are proceeding to inspect the incident's source." the attack was apparently pointed at Vevo only and not the YouTube as per the post on billboard.com dated April 10, 2018.
The main motive of the hack isn't clear; however a typical pattern in the hack is that pages of artists of Vevo, particularly those videos which are popular and frequently viewed on ones, have been aimed. During this article writing, page of Vevo that include Post Malone, Luis Fonsi, Shakira, Drake and Adele among others which were affected by the attack.
The quantity of affected pages of the artist on YouTube page Vevo channel continues to increase with artists such as Charlie XCX and DJ Snake also got enlisted. There isn't any solid information regarding the group of 'Prosox and Kuroi'SH', beside the YouTube channel which tweeted a couple of hours back Jake Paul and Logan Paul are the latest victims.
It was very unfortunate that the attackers very easily, without putting much effort, gained the access. They are proceeding to inspect the origin of the case of breach.
