Spyware creator NSO Group's software helps end-users infiltrate smart-phones of the most widely used, while intercept calls and also garner other data.

According to this company, governments use its software for finding terrorists' whereabouts and then stop them or determine their criminal plots. But, in reality, governments often utilize the software for espionage purposes involving activists and dissidents. Previously there were great restrictions on the company after it supplied technology to governments of countries in Middle East who then utilized the same for attacking to hack 174 lawyers, activists, journalists, among others, and also people working at Amnesty International.

A new report by NYT (New York Times) states NSO Group is compromising journalists and other people through security breaches with purpose of boasting the company's expertise as also making an impression on potential clients. Further according to The Times, for acquiring one fresh deal from United Arab Emirates' key officials, NSO hacked into an editor's cell-phone who works for an Arab newspaper based in London and made available 2 sound tracks of phone conversations for the UAE officials within a subsequently constructed e-mail.

It is said the demonstration aimed at trading to the Emirati officials a costly new update that must function properly prior to the payment getting done. NSO Group as well infiltrated the phones belonging to one highly authoritative Saudi prince and the Emir of Qatar.

Now, NSO Group's different actions have led to setting of dual lawsuits by persons attacked with the Group's technology, blaming the company that it robustly participated in unlawful spying. Of the twin lawsuits, one is from certain Qatari citizen inside Israel, while the other is from activists and journalists from Mexico but residing inside Cyprus. They have all asserted being victims of unlawful surveillance software of NSO Group.

However, as of NSO, the company asserts it solely trades with governments that acquiesce with using its technology against crime bearers. It also states that the other things for which governments deploy its technology are not in its hands. Nonetheless, disclosures by NYT about NSO's active hacks of journalists for getting clients directly dilute that argument somewhat.
