Office 365 for Business - from May to September - has been Recorded Lowest Phish Miss Rate Versus Rivals

The report on phishing miss rate of Office 365 was released by Microsoft. As per the statistics of Microsoft, they had blocked around 5 Billion attempts of phishing on Office 365. As per the company, this is only the analyzation of over 400 billion emails they scan every month.

In its blog post, the Redmond giant has admitted that when its email account service got compared with others, the phishing emails blocked by the company was not close to high of the other important email vendors in last year. Even, Office 365 observes a poor phish emails miss rate as compared to the third-party services.

In 2018, as many as 5 Billion phish emails have been blocked, till now, on Office 365; 7 Billion URL clicks via Safe Links have been protected; 11 Billion items via ATP sandboxing have been detonated with the latest anti-phish capabilities.

"[It] is the culmination of the incredible focus, drive, and expertise of Microsoft researchers and engineers working together to push the boundaries of threat research, machine learning, and development of algorithms that together provide customers the most impressive and effective protection against phish emails available for Office 365 today" said Sr. Product Marketing Manager of Microsoft, Debraj Ghosh.

The 3,500 resident security professionals of the company based in Redmond have been aided by an annual investment of $1 billion for cybersecurity. The professionals work to combat the phishing attacks by focusing on the four categories of the phish emails. The engineers of Microsoft have also designed many anti-phish capabilities as posted on October 17, 2018, by neowin.net.

Due to this, the company has to hire security experts in thousands and have to put budget of $1 billion annually for the cybersecurity protection. The enhancements include domain spoofing detection as well as display name impersonation, along with blocking the links which the service thinks to be unsafe.

After improvement of a few months, the new statistics of the tech giant shows their security enhancements have really paid off. The phishing miss rate of the tech giant was much lower now, than their leading competitors (however they did not mention which competitors have been measured).
