Former Miss India Finalist – Arisha Jain’s Social Media Accounts got Hacked

Arisha Jain, Miss India finalist, 2011, faced a tough time when her three social media accounts got hacked by the hackers in the month of November. After hacking her accounts, the hackers also demanded ransom of INR 1 Lakh from her. It began when, a few days ago, Arisha sent an email for her Instagram account verification. In reply to Arisha's email, she received an email which was actually malware scam email, and unknowingly, she clicked the same.

A few moments later when Arisha tried accessing one of the social media accounts of her, she was not able to do the same. She then realized that her social media accounts have been hacked, as her account passwords and login IDs have also been altered. Soon after she realized that she has been tricked to click on a phishing email, as all her accounts were hacked.

Speaking on the entire incident, Arisha said that the situation is really scary. Thus she filed a complaint to the cybercrime, and fortunately she has got her Facebook and Instagram account back. However, she is more scared about her Snapchat account, as there are a few old and private pictures which she feared that the hacker might release online.

Arisha also added that the hacker was very smart, and thus send the account number of an E-Wallet in place of sending the bank details. The hacker told Arisha to deposit the ransom money in the E-Wallet account send by him/her.

She further revealed that the hacker after hacking her accounts, also tried to contact her followers and friends on Instagram and Facebook following a similar route. Moreover, the hacker was easily able to access Arisha's pan card and credit card details, as these details were synced with her email, she confirmed.

Arisha lodged an FIR with Versova Police, Mumbai. As per Arisha, the hacker (who is still unidentified) threatened her that he/she will misuse her pictures, in case she does not pay the ransom amount.

As per the details given by Arisha Jain, the police are doing its investigation of the case to find the suspect and are trying to trace IP address of the hackers. One of the police officers doing investigation of the case said that once origin of this hacking is found, they will be able to track the suspect too. Arisha Jain has now started advising users of social media to be very careful while opening any email.
