Google Maps page of a Private Coaching Institute in New Panvel hacked

A case has been registered with Khandeshwar police by Geeta Joshi, director of a private coaching institute in New Panvel.

The case was registered against a person for hacking the Google Maps page of the private institute. As per the complaint, first a message was posted by the hacker on behalf of the Apogee Achievers Point that states the institute of New Panvel is going to permanently shut down this year. Later on, a review was posted by the hacker on Google page that says the owner of this private institute has links with our neighboring country Pakistan.

An officer of the Khandeshwar police station says that "on February 23, the Google map page was hacked into and details edited to say that the institute would be shutting down this year and the money would be refunded. The owner came to know of this when she started getting calls from parents". So with a software engineer's help, the director of this institute contacted Google and then pulled down the hacker's message regarding shut down of the institute. Moreover, Geeta Joshi also got access of their page back.

The Khandeshwar police station officer added that again on "the next day a review was posted from the account of same hacker that said that the owners of the institute had links with Pakistan". Then again on March 5, 2019, the same review was posted by the same hacker again on their Google page stating that the owners of this institute still have connections and links in Pakistan. It even says that one can verify this from the Facebook accounts of the owners. So due to all this events, Geeta Joshi on March 12, 2019, has filed a complaint.

A cyber cell officer said that "close to 300 students took coaching from the institute for IIT, JEE and various other entrances. All the parents panicked after reading about the Pakistan links. Prima facie, it looks like some known person has tried to malign the institute over personal issues". The cyber cell officer also added that the account from which the review was posted and hacking of the page was done was in the name of Aayushi Agrawal. However, it is yet to be verified whether the account is real or fake.
