Klaussner Furniture notified over 9,000 current and past employees about possible data breach

 

Klaussner Furniture Industries based in North Carolina recently discovered that a security incident related to data which has affected its operations, might have also affected personal information of some current as well as former employees, along with a few of their dependents.

 

Once the security incident was discovered in Feb. 2019, Klaussner Furniture Industries has taken prompt action that included starting an internal investigation, hiring one of the best forensic firms, and also notifying the law enforcement about the incident. During the investigation, Klaussner Furniture Industries came to know that a hacker has gained access of two computers on Klaussner's network containing some personal information about a few current as well as past employees, along with a few of their dependents. Till now, Klaussner Furniture Industries does not get information about any kind of identity theft or fraud due to this data security incident.

 

Officials determined that the compromised data stored in those affected computers varies person to person, but may include the first names and last names, dates of birth, addresses, financial account information, Social Security numbers, health information, as well as health benefit election(s). On the basis of the investigation, it was determined that data stored on those computers included information about a few Klaussner employees from 1998, along with employees from 2004 to Feb. 25, 2019, and a few of their dependents.

 

Klaussner Furniture Industries notified 9,352 current as well as past employees about their data getting possibly breached in a security incident recently.
