Trojan Backdoor Used To Blackmail Over Internet

Adrian Ringland, aged 36, having two children and living in Lord Haddon Road pretended himself to be a teenager to a young girl in chat sessions while using a Trojan backdoor to hack the girl's computer and blackmail her to send bare images of herself.

When she opened an attachment having Adrian's photograph it enabled Adrian to enter her computer through a Trojan backdoor. He then forced her to send nude pictures of her own self.

According to Arti Taru, security expert at MicroWorld Technologies, Trojan backdoor can be deployed by attackers from distance to capture a victim's computer and execute programs on them, reboot the system, open files, download files, open web pages, launch and operate a Proxy Server and run many other operations, as if the intruder was on his own desktop working independently.

After the 'Royal Canadian Police' traced Adrian he was arrested and later released on bail. As per investigations he has hacked four other teenagers in U.K. and Canada and even forced them to agree to have physical relationship with him. While he controlled their PCs remotely, he could move cursors, control web cams, open and close CD-Roms and do many ill intended tasks in a way that would make an amateur user of the PC surrender to him.

Ringland trying to show confidence once told to one of his victims that he was too good at things for the police to ever catch him. He said that he had installed a good number of security covers to escape getting caught.

Jim Gamble, Head of Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center (CEOP) feels the way pedophiles have abused a young girl by taking control of her PC as really horrifying. While the social phenomenon of chatting over Internet chat rooms and social networking sites like MySpace and Bebo grow, these if unchecked can invite predatory pedophiles.

Whenever such unpleasing situation occurs while being online, one should immediately disconnect form the Internet and shut down the computer, advise security experts so that further damages can be prevented. Moreover adequate security measures like updated anti-virus and firewall should be deployed on the systems.
