Trojan Using Tatu To Strike

If you receive a mail with subject line of 'Photos of Tatu', just ensure to delete it and let your anti-virus system do its work. Security Guards at Sophos are cautioning Internet about the new Trojan horse that preys on the fans of pop-music and corrupts alike by promising them pictures and secret details of the members of Tatu, a Russian pop group.

Tatu is remembered for its controversial videos and onstage tricks and not for its music. This newly discovered Trojan take advantage of still widespread interest the personal life of Sapphic school's uniform wearing pop duo to log machine keystrokes, hack Pcs and thieve information.

Trojan has been denominated as Banito-BE. It is being mass mailed to Internet users around the world with a subject line, "Photos of TATU". The content of the mail asks the recipient to click on the nasty attachment promising gossips and photos of the girls of the pop band. The message text of the email contains:

Ken says that the media blitz of TATU is still continuing. The band is going to become bigger. The report consists of tidbits of information like Julia's comment that they really love each other and sex is substantial. She added further that it is much better than with a man. As against other's perception, they just do not talk about it. They have sex three times a day, atleast.
The recent photos and dailies are in tatu.chm

It is reported that this email has 3 attached files, 2 JPEGs of singers for promotion and 1 corrupt file, TATU.CHM. This corrupt file permits the hackers to access the computers of innocent users. The malicious file uses the lesser common *.CHM extension that enables it to cross through the filtering systems of emails used by business.

This surely is not the first case of use of celebrities in Trojan emails- Anna Kournikova, Britney Spears, Halle Berry and Julia Roberts all have been used to allure emails users to doom themselves. The hard-core fans of Tatu are requested to resist the bait and do not click on the attachments given in the mails.

Sophos' Graham Cluley comments that this celebrity-linked malware is not for making mischief but to make financial gains. He added that it is important to keep the anti- virus systems updated to avoid the loss of personal information.
