Hackers Charge ‘Ransom’ From Online Gambling Sites

Do you know that the industry of online gambling is worth about 13 billion dollars? Yet, computer hackers are manipulating it. Online gambling sites are finding themselves compelled to pay ransom to technically advanced hackers and organized criminal.

St. Mary's university's criminologist, John McMullan, explained that internet gambling sites are attacked at the highest points of activeness, like the chief sports' occasions.

These computer hackers hit gambling websites and flood their inboxes with emails, thereby, shutting them down. Then they demand up to sixty thousand dollars to set the website free.

Sophisticated hackers recruit worm writers and crackers to exploit the Internet anonymity and many bank accounts to take advantage of online gambling.

The hackers use viruses to establish certain programs that allow them to have power over an astonishingly enormous number of computers.

Anybody's system could be made into a botnet army without his knowledge even. These compromised computers are then employed to send mails to a specific site.. These messages can stress and pressure the website with those messages. As the receiving site can't respond to all the mails it starts slowing down and subsequently taken down.
This is the time when this tech-savvy hackers demand money.

Hackers send the mails to company saying if their demand of ransom is not fulfilled within the given period, then the company's Website will be closed down completely.

Mr. McMullan confirmed that some hackers have been arrested and sent to prison. He said that catching computer hackers is a very hard thing to do and explained that the hacker does not stay in his own crime laboratory.

To protect your self from hackers, try to maintain modern technologies and recent digital protectors.

The departments for cyber crime have already become one of the most sought and powerful agencies of law. But, it's essential that different agencies cooperate with each other to undertake this serious problem.
