Germany Accuses China of Regular Cyber Attacks

The Chinese government is responsible for the Internet spying strikes on German businesses and government organizations that happen almost everyday, stated a prominent German intelligence agent on October 22, 2007.

In a Berlin seminar on industrial spying, Hans Elmar Remberg, German Office for the Protection of the Constitution's Vice President, said that his nation was in the midst of "a Chinese cyber war", reported Vnunet on October 22, 2007.

Hans Elmar Remberg said that it was believed that the vested interests of the Chinese government were solely responsible for all the cyber attacks, reported Reuters on October 22, 2007.

As per Reuters, he further said that the magnitude, pattern, and range of the strikes, and in particular the targets, that include German government officials and organizations, fuels and confirms this belief.

Remberg's remark comes after a fresh wave of government reports that China is exploiting hacking to get data.

Francis Delon, Secretary General for national defense of France, the United States Department of Defense (Pentagon) and a member of the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee have all purported in the same way.

According to reports on Reuters, Remberg alleged that throughout the world, the Communist China is meticulously collecting military, political, business-related and technological details with the purpose of reducing their technical disparities rapidly.

Even as China dismissed claims by Germany alleging it to be responsible for cyber-spying strikes on the businesses and its state agencies, declaring on October 23, 2007 that it rebutted all such charges.

Reuters published news on 23, 2007 stating that Liu Jianchao, a Foreign Ministry representative, informed a usual news conference that he would like to mention that the German side should now explain and clear up the matter.

They were allegedly very bewildered and firmly denied such charges.

The recent accusations come after the August press reports by Germany alleging that cyber terrorists connected with the Chinese military had unlawfully accessed German ministries, along with Chancellor Angela Merkel's office and corrupted them with spyware.

Beijing dismissed the claims and Premier Wen Jiabao then told that China would take a strong action to stop cyber strikes, reported Reuters on 23, 2007.
