Katie Price – Most Dangerous UK Celeb to Search Online

Researchers at McAfee recently conducted a survey and discovered that Katie Price was the riskiest public figure to search for in UK's cyber space as online crooks attempted to take advantage of her virtual possessions by creating honeypots strewn with malware.

The company discovered that 16.3% of web-links or websites related to Price contained unsafe content of some form or another.

Furthermore, the researchers scanned the results of several UK and US celebrities on Yahoo and Google search engines and discovered that a large number of websites were designed to ensnare visitors with the promises of pictures, videos and news relating to their desired celebrities.

A swift glance of the popular magazines' and newspapers' top web-pages presents a reasonable picture of the next area of target for the criminals, says Greg Day, Principal Security Analyst at McAfee, as reported by ITPROPORTAL on August 25, 2009.

The survey also discovered that fans of Price searching online for latest gossip pertaining to Price's intimacy with Alex Reid the cage fighter could likely open a "dangerous" website at the rate of one in 6 possibilities of clicking.

The so-called 'dangerous' websites could contain spyware that secretly gather information of surfers, or have viruses that could penetrate PCs for committing identity theft and/or making money.

To show that it is not merely search for females that could endanger a PC, Jude Law, who in July 2009 disclosed that he was acting the parent of a child in partnership with model and actress Samantha Burke, accounted for the second most number of websites, related to him that cyber miscreants targeted.

Another popular favorite was Kate Moss a supermodel at No.4 position, while party friend Lily Allen followed her at No.12.

Victoria Beckham's new participation for 'American idol' as also her spouse David's spat with fans at LA Galaxy made it certain that both of them ranked among the top five places.

Besides, McAfee found that the most risky US celebrity to search for was Jessica Biel, who replaced star Brad Pitt, the riskiest online search name of 2008.
