Spam Contribution in Total E-mail Falls 5.1% during November 2012, States Kaspersky

Kaspersky the security company recently published its November 2012 Spam Report, which states that the total amount of junk messages within the entire e-mail traffic fell 5.1 percentage points during the month, accounting for a mean 63%.

Among this spam, the most prevalent unsolicited e-mails were those which related to natural calamity and holiday themes. However, pharmaceutical spam, like all times, remained just the same popular.

Incidentally, the maximum volume of spam originated from the United States and China, during November 2012, the two jointly accounting for more than 50 percent of global spam. Other countries following them have been India, Vietnam, Germany, Russia, Brazil, United Kingdom and Taiwan in that order.

Kaspersky further indicates that the November 2012 month as well witnessed a 50 percent drop in phishing e-mails within the entire e-mail traffic, leveling at 0.015 percentage point.

Additionally, the top positioned attack points for cyber-criminals were social networking websites where phishing assaults accounted for a 13 percent rise settling at 30 percentage points during November 2012 compared to October 2012.
