Malware Predicted to Increase Ten Times by 2008 End

According to the predictions made by Kaspersky Lab, the landscape of security threat will grow by over 20 Million malicious applications by the time year 2008 ends. This increase in comparison to the figures at the end of 2007 would be ten times more. In other words, the number of malware samples introduced for the first time during 2008 would rise by 20 Million.

At the Infosec Europe 2008 gathering, analysts from Kaspersky said that new malware pieces found in the wild, including Trojans, viruses and worms, numbered 2.2 Million in 2007, showing a four times increase from 535,131 malware pieces in 2006. Correspo...
