Olympic Theme Trojans Target Data-Rich Industries

According to MessageLabs, a security vendor, hackers are focusing to exploit an international event, the Olympics 2008, to install their malicious code on users' computers.

Over the past six months, MessageLabs intercepted 13 distinct attacks that used the Olympic theme. These were launched on several data-rich industries. The attacks sent legitimate-sounding e-mails that used subject titles as "National Olympic Committee and Ticket Sales Agent" and "The Beijing 2008 Torch Relay". Some of them purported to arrive from the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne Switzerland. It appeared all the attacks except one had been dispatched from an Internet Protocol address in Asia Pacific.
