New Phishing Approach Embraces Trojans

Gangs of phishers, aiming to persuade unsuspecting surfers to part with their bank account information, are adopting new tactics to steal users' data more easily.

In one such approach, phishers not only distribute e-mails that redirect users to Websites that spoof reputed banks, but also infect their victims' PCs with Trojans.

These trojans actually remain dormant on the infected computer until the user accesses a banking site, when the malware becomes active and records the information typed into the fake Website. It then transmits the information back to the control center of the gang masters.
