Pharming Attack- An Emerging Threat in India

Pharming, a new online threat that hackers use to earn financial revenue, has started emerging in India too with the number of its Internet subscriber increases, as reported by The Economic Times on May 7, 2008.

Pharming is also called "Domain Spoofing" in which cyber criminals divert the legitimate Web traffic to their self designed Websites where the crooks try to steal users' private information.

Security experts say that the pharming is a form of phishing that does not require the victim to click on an e-mail link. Instead pharmers infect the Domain Name Service so as to trick a user to connect his browser to a fake Website, which the user thinks to be real after typing in the URL address.
