Australia - Bank Account Details Available on Internet Sites

Hackers are pilfering bank login information from online bankers in Australia and are selling that data for as high as $913 (€550) in black markets of Europe.

The research conducted by McAfee Avert Labs revealed that not only bank details but also personal information of account holders of various banks, such as ANZ, Bank West, Commonwealth Bank and Suncorp, are being sold for nearly €550.

Security Research and Communications Manager, McAfee Avert Labs, Dave Marcus, said that stealing of information happens in every Australian bank as it is less risky, requires little effort and it is a very effective method of committing cybercrime, reported ChannelWeb on May 9, 2008.
