Internet Storm Center Warned Businesses Against SSH Attacks
Several network administrators tried to draw attention towards increase in order-of-magnitude to guess password and user name of systems operating Secure Shell (SSH), an encrypted method to access by which telnet service are replaced.
System administrators from universities and companies disclosed that hackers made login attempts from thousands of Internet addresses in the past week. There has been an outburst in such attacks, which remained very low earlier.
The Internet Storm Center, a team to monitor network system and supported by the SANS Institute, said on May 12, 2008 that system administrators should take necessary precautions to protect their systems in the wake of sharp increase in such attacks.
