Enormous Computer Breaches Hit Greenville County

Joe Dill, Councilman of Greenville County, said on June 26, 2008 that authorities were concerned about the enormous security breaches on the computers of the county office as they contain information of the Sheriff's office, the county confinement center and the solicitor's office, as reported by GreenvilleOnline on June 26, 2008.

Officials of the Council disclosed that between five and ten county computers were hacked from inside, including Dill's computer in a breach that impacted employee related information. According to the IT Staff of the County, it discovered a dangerous virus and Dill said that he had handed over his system to the FBI for investigation.
