Phishers Attacked Habbo Hotel Website

As per the reports released by FaceTime Security Labs, it has discovered a new kind of attack on the virtual world of Habbo Hotel, creating tension for the hotel.

FaceTime said that the phishing campaign tries to steal the users name and account data of user from the famous online teen world.

Time malware Research Director, Chris Boyd, said that like the other phishing Websites, the attacker has made a fake page, which appears exactly like the real site of Habbo, as reported by PCMagazine on August 26, 2008.

Boyd informed that in a regular phishing scam, the phishing sites would direct the users to a fake login screen after entering the details on the login page. Often, this indicates to the regular Web users that they have been hacked, urging them to access the authentic site and thus modify the information.

But, as per Boyd this phishing mail has one unusual feature - it takes the user on to the real Habbo site after signing in the phishing site. But the Habbo phishing site is instilled with a script, which transfers the login information to the real Habbo site. In return, the user is automatically signed into the service, leaving no clue that a phishing attack has been conducted.

Though the phishing attack is presently restricted to the Habbo Hotel Website, FaceTime Security Researchers are anticipating that it can be used for attacking other sensitive areas.

The security researchers also claimed that sensitive attacked areas can lead to virus or malware circulation on the real company's site, which robbed the users of their money, and lead to malware circulation on company or banking sites, resulting in the hacking of a user's system or a whole network of a company.

Boyd also suggested that if this trend of phishing attacks will continues on the banking sites, then the innocent users should immediately install anti phishers software that contains in-built phish detectors as the stakes seem to reach high again.
