Spam Targeting BitTorrent Users Serve Trojan Malware
Spammers targeting BitTorrent users by sending millions of spam messages have started a new attack trend. The messages warn the reader that she/he is being logged using BitTorrent and provides an attachment apparently containing evidence, but it infects users with a computer virus.
Further, the e-mail that pretends to be sent from MediaDefender, an anti-piracy firm, uses the company's logo to appear genuine. In addition, it includes an attachment giving details of the infringed material but it is A Mytob worm that installs a Trojan and enables the attacker to compromise the user's computer.
