Burnt Cash Proves Potent Malware Lure

According to Trend Micro, malware infected a massive number of computers after it spread via a spam e-mail that carried the video footage of a bank robbery in which 1 Million dollars apparently got burnt.

In August 1994, the musicians Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond of the K Foundation burnt a large sum of money on the Scottish Island of Jura for an art project, but the project's significance still remains to be explained. Now after 14 years, malware developers are spamming mails apparently containing a video clip of million dollars going into smoke. Although the news is certainly false, it seems to attract recipients into watching the phony video.
