Malicious Cyber Activities Increased Last Year

According to Shawn Henry, a Senior FBI Official, malicious cyber activities became more sophisticated and prevalent over the year 2007, and threats have been emanating from organized crime gangs, terrorists groups and even foreign governments, as reported by FCW on October 15, 2008.

Henry further said that the prevailing threats involve preventing network access, compromising and modifying data to influence its integrity as well as phishing or committing theft of users' private data.

Moreover, the growth in cyber activities and their sophistication poses a national security danger that has raised concerns among the private sector, the government and the nation's overseas partners.
