70% Internet Users in the Gulf Face Online Attacks Everyday
According to security company Trend Micro, which conducted a new survey and published its results on October 20, 2008, 70% of the internet users in the Gulf region are targets of attack from Web threats every single day.
The survey further indicates that during the last three months (July-September 2008), 80% of internet users had been targeted by spam attacks, 31% by virus attacks and 23% by Trojan attacks.
Additionally, the survey found that 25% of respondents have little knowledge about online threats affecting the region that Trend Micro described as alarming.
Security specialists said that the survey suggests that individuals and organizations in the Gulf region are not online threats seriously and that attitude needs to be changed fast.
