Trojan Gimmiv Exploits Critical Security Hole to Infect Users’ PCs
On October 23, 2008, Microsoft issued a critical patch, unlike its regular patch cycle to deal with a fresh wave of virus attacks similar to the MSBlaster worm attack. In view of the latest spate of virus attacks, Microsoft urged its consumers to take prompt steps to check the menace.
The latest patch, MS08-067 is differed from Microsoft's usual patch cycles and implying that the world's largest software provider is worried about the threat.
Meantime, security investigators and security experts disclosed that the critical security flaw patched with Microsoft's Security Update MS08-067 is manipulated by another uncontained password- stealing malevolent program called Troj/Gimmiv-A.
